Director Michael Matthews pulls Brandman’s sharp language exactingly onto the stage, capturing each skirmish of a could-be couple’s emotional and psychological warfare.
-LA WEEKLY
Michael Matthews directs this two-hander, which starts off with a bang.
Harmon and Terry are really wonderful. Matthews guides them to invest in subtleties as layers of past slights and present motives are revealed. The staging is pretty slick too!
-BACKSTAGE
It’s theatre in the round in the Lillian’s small space, making for a truly intimate experience. The two actors make excellent use of the space: her studio apartment where they move from kitchen to bed to sofa to chair, coming within inches of the audience. We never quite know where this is headed…this unusual twist on the battle of the sexes. Quite intriguing. And don’t come hungry to this event: they actually roast onions and brew fresh coffee on stage! Total immersion for the audience!
